Landfill Gas

  • Control energy costs and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

  • Decomposing organic matter in landfill sites produces methane as the matter decomposes. This methane can be gathered through pipes in the landfill to power gas engines to generate electricity and heat.

  • Removes methane. Methane is a greenhouse gas, 21 times worse than carbon dioxide.

  • With landfill gas, heat energy is produced in addition to electricity. Combined heat and power (CHPsystems, also known as cogeneration, generate electricity and useful thermal energy in a single, integrated system.
