In April 2016 Algonquin College completed a 2-megawatt (MW) natural gas cogeneration facility. This is enough to cover the baseline power needs of its Ottawa campus, and is providing a positive return on the investment. Innovative Hydro Controls designed implemented and commissioned key software for this facility. Said Bob Chiarelli, Ontario’s Energy Minister : “[This facility] will provide innovations in technology to reduce electricity costs, better manage energy use, and improve the training of the next generation of power workers and energy system innovators,”
Innovative Hydro Controls assisted with the programming, testing of three protection relays, and the commissioning of this Algonquin college project.
